Latest Fishing Report

Latest Fishing Report

Latest Fishing Report - 27.10.25

Shore - There has been a good number of bluemoki, trevally and gurnard getting caught on the south coast recently. Places like white rock, ocean beach and pencarrow have been productive. Wainui and longbeach have also been reasonable fishing.

Snapper have been getting caught inside the harbour now with some nice gurnard as well at places like oriental bay, flat rock and karaka bay. There were a number of snapper caught at Tehoro last time it was clean and fishable but lately its been more predominant
kahawai getting caught in amoungst the schools of white bait, particulary around river mouths.

Boat - Not as many opportunities to get out with the predominant north westerlies but when fishable a good number of snapper, kingis, along with the usual mixed bag of cod, teri, trevally etc as well out west.
The snapper have been more productive in the deeper water but should start coming in close with the warmer water.
Out on the south coast its been business as usual with cod, teri in the reefy areas from 40-100mtrs with the odd kingi and snapper thrown in for good measure.
Harbour fishing should be good once the wind drops for snapper, trevally and gurnard if the shore fishing is any indication of whats around.
Deepwater - not too much to report lately with limited decent weather.
The kingis havnt turned up yet in close to shore but it will only be a matter of time before the jigging and slide-baiting brigades start up. Get ready, it wont be a long wait

Come into the shop for advice on tackle, spots to fish and techniques. We enjoy teaching people and helping you catch more fish.

regards, Pete

At the moment there are plenty of hapuku around in the deep with snapper, trevally, tarakihi and gurnard inshore and most other species mixed in for good measure.

On a 6hr trip we can go south to Makara or north to Hunters bank and sometimes out wide for hapuku. Its generally an inshore fishing trip but we are happy to go deep if everyone on board is keen.

Our 4hr trips are mainly around Mana island and Pukerua bay. There's good numbers of snapper, trevally, tarakihi and gurnard with the odd kingfish, jd and blue mackerel as well
